Shopping for new vehicles can be intimidating at every stage. Even deciding on warranties can stump you. Should you get a powertrain or a bumper-to-bumper warranty? Our Brewton, AL Jim Peach Motors Inc team demystifies the subject in a few hundred words.
In many cases, you might not have to choose between the powertrain or the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Many new and CPO vehicles come with both. Powertrain warranties cover the repair and replacement of vehicle components that generate power, such as the engine and transmission. This doesn't include related components that might experience wear:
- Clutch
- Fluids
- Belts
- Battery
This is a classic warranty often labeled 'comprehensive.' Aptly named, it covers repair and replacement of most major and minor vehicle components from the back to the front bumper. This includes the powertrain. However, this warranty's comprehensiveness often gives it a shorter coverage period than a powertrain warranty. This warranty also does not cover components that might wear out during normal daily driving:
- Upholstery
- Interior trim
- Glass
- Surfaces
